Giving this another try because the idea of moving back to the blogging model tickles me, my new life of crime + a name update!
This time last year I tried to make substack fetch. At the time my life was suuuuper chaotic and there just wasn't space for it. Now, a year later I’m ready 2 rock! I live in Miami now, I’ve been tiktoking for a full year, I just froze my eggs! She’s just a new girl ok?
But first, it’s important to clear one thing up— my name is Gabriela not Brazinda. I came up with Brazinda because I’m half Brazilian and half Indian.
And now you may be asking, why the name Strange Applez?
Sometimes the things I like are weird. I hope that this newsletter always feels a little out of the ordinary. I seriously love to hunt for the most random things and I hope to use Strange Applez to introduce them to you.
So to ease into this, here is what I’ve (insert adjective here) this week:
Eating: It’s mango season!!! And my first mango season in Miami. So that’s all I’ve been eating. I have been stealing them off trees during my walks and I swear it makes them taste better. It’s crazy to see mango trees on the side of the highway with fallen mangoes all smashed up by cars. Hot Tip: add some lime juice and maaaybe even some tajin. Best served cold.

Buying:
For some reason, I felt compelled to check out HM and damn. I try to not do the fast fashion thing but I was truly having trouble finding linen pants that fit me correctly in the higher price brackets. I ended up picking up this top which is a solid dupe for this Tove top which rings in at $448 along with some black linen pants that now rival my reformation linen ones. It was less than $100 for both!!

I also purchased the ever-so-iconic purple sequin Fendi baguette from Fashionphile. It wasn’t on my radar until I saw it and then it’s all I could think about. I’m now making the conscious choice to embrace purple sequin as a neutral in my wardrobe going forward.
You can peep my unboxing video below should you want to join me in the sheer excitement!

Watching:
House of the Dragon- season 2 just came out two Sundays ago! Let’s hope this season isn’t so literally dark and we can actually see what is happening on screen.
Dark Matter- Multi verse with doppelgangers. A drama. Solid performances by Joel Edgerton & Alice Braga.
Bridgerton- season 3 part 2 which I obviously binged. It did kind of stress me out more then I expected though.
Drinking: I got this stuff from Trader Joe’s and put that sh*t in everything now.
My favorite way to use it is in my daily iced matcha latte’s. I personally follow these 2 recipes from the ultimate cool girl Alivia then add in that vanilla paste for a lil extra somethin somethin. The Daily Cardamom Matcha OR her Sexy Bitch Matcha. So good!
Doing: The past week and a half have been quite eventful! I decided to freeze my eggs! That meant the week was filled with stim injections (unfun but didn’t hurt), mood swings (crying and feeling tenderoni), bloating and being so so nauseous. However, it all went super well and I feel a massive relief that I did it. I am annoyingly still super bloated (normal) and the cramping just recently subsided (normal). Women’s bodies are pretty amazing though. It was surprising how much pressure I felt about having kids before this.
Following: As mentioned above- Alivia for all things joyful, colorful and delicious. I hope we get to eat a sandwich together someday girl!
Shay also wears & posts the most beautiful things. She’s an elegant petite queen and I strive to be that polished on my best days.
And speaking of polish, I’ll leave you here with my nail polish of the week! Since summer is in the air I decided to go with orange which is surprisingly difficult to photograph. I’m such a sucker for a bright nail though!
Hope this scratched a little itch for ya, see you next week :)
